Leonardo DiCaprio Buys Blackadore
Caye Belize
Island lies a few miles west of Ambergris Caye
Reports from
both international and national media houses are that Hollywood “Aviator”
star Leonardo DiCaprio has bought a piece of Belizean real estate known as
Blackadore Caye, a 104-acre island located just a few miles west of
Ambergris Caye.
According to the British newspaper The Sun, the
staunch environmentalist is planning to turn the island into an
eco-friendly resort and is already working on plans for the
environmentally-conscious retreat, which will cost him millions of dollars
to construct.
Plans for the luxury layout will apparently include
just a few exclusive villas, all with private pools and terraces as well
as direct access to the beach. Most importantly, however, the design of
the hideaway – including the use of renewable energy sources – will
respect the island’s wildlife and tropical surroundings.
 The narrow island of Blackadore Caye, which is just over two
miles long, is lined with white sand beaches and dotted with coconut palms
and rocky outcrops. It lies just a 25-minute boat ride from the Belize
Barrier Reef, a World Heritage Site. The island’s length would also be
able to easily accommodate an airstrip.
Press reports and sources
on the island say that management of Leo’s resort will be in cooperation
with the nearby high end resort of Cayo Espanto. Our sources also told us
that DiCaprio did not purchase all of Blackadore Caye, but only a piece of
the 104-acre island, at a cost of over a million dollar U.S. This same
source informed us that the entire island was purchased at a cost of $1.7
million U.S., and its owner is planning to sell the other remaining land
at Blackadore Caye to other Hollywood stars and celebrities, including
Robert DeNiro and Tiger Woods. Therefore, very soon San Pedro’s Blackadore
Caye will soon be full of stars - Hollywood Stars, that is!
